A Grand Opening That is Truly Cause for Celebration!

The staff of Independent Project Managers recently had the pleasure of attending the official grand opening ceremony for The Hope Centre of Durham Region.

The inspiration for this project began several years ago with a vision by four local key Violence Against Women (VAW) service providers – Catholic Family Services of Durham, DRIVEN, Rose of Durham and Luke’s Place. They believed that by sharing a space and working as partners, they could provide a service hub to help the women and children of this community facing domestic and gender-based violence.

In 2017, Catholic Family Services of Durham (CFSD) was awarded major capital funding by the Ministry of Children, Community & Social Services to make this collaborative vision a reality. After much searching, they purchased the building located at 707 Simcoe Street South in Oshawa and begin the renovations required to turn the existing building into a home for all four organizations.

The Hope Centre of Durham Region is now open and offers access to a range of specialty services including therapeutic counselling, risk and safety plans, emergency shelters, young parent support services, child welfare services, court support, legal aid and a host of other community support services for families in need.

IPM is proud to have had the opportunity to assist in making this dream a reality and wish all of you the very, very best in your new home!
